Notification mode, background running & Picture-in-Picture

ScreenGuardian is meant to fade into the background while you work. These three features control how present it is, from a quiet alerts-only mode to a floating live view you can keep in the corner of your screen.

Running in the background

You do not need the window in front to get value. Leave ScreenGuardian running and it keeps checking your posture, distance, and breaks while you work in other apps, surfacing only when something is worth a nudge. It also picks the rhythm back up cleanly after your computer sleeps and wakes.

Pausing

When you want it to stop for a while, use Pause. It suspends the checks and the camera until you resume, no need to quit the app. Handy before a presentation, a video call you would rather it stay out of, or a break.

Notification mode (alerts-only)

Notification mode is the most private way to run the app. The live camera view and real-time alerts keep working, but session metrics, the dashboard, goals progress, charts, and alert-history writes are paused. You still get the nudges; the app simply stops keeping a record until you return to the full view. Turn it on during setup or from settings.

Picture-in-Picture

Picture-in-Picture pops the live view into a small floating window you can park anywhere, so you can keep an eye on your own posture while a document or meeting fills the rest of the screen. Resize it from the corner and move it out of your way; it stays on top so it does not get buried.

Common questions

Does Notification mode still protect my privacy?

Yes, more so: it pauses the local record-keeping while keeping the alerts. As always, camera frames are processed on your computer and never uploaded. See your data and privacy.

Will other apps see that ScreenGuardian has the camera?

On some systems only one app uses the camera at a time. If another app needs it, ScreenGuardian steps aside and lets you know, then resumes when the camera is free. It never fights another app for the camera.
